There’s so much talk of money, or lack of money I should say. People unemployed or taking large pay cuts, losing homes, personal debt, national debt, businesses closing, gas and food prices increasing... it’s never ending! We are searching for money and new ways to get money so we can survive. Of course, we need money to live but we have become slaves to the greenback and the stress is killing us. So let’s take the needle out of our arms, shall we?
It’s not that there is no money out there or that there is no way of obtaining what we need. It will just come to us in new ways. This is a different world now and what worked before won’t work now. As I said, there is plenty out there and we can have what we need. The new money is about two things: integrity and community.
Integrity
What is not in integrity will be less sustainable now. Living an authentic life is integrity. In terms of money, this relates to being authentic in your job. Work that utilizes your skills and talents is integrity. Doing what you love, following your passions and using your creativity is integrity. Being a responsible employee and doing your job to the best of your abilities is integrity. Honesty, appreciation for employees, customers and the environment is integrity.
If you’ve lost your job, perhaps you weren’t really using your talents and simply setting for a pay check even though you were miserable. Or maybe the company you worked for lacked integrity. The new way of generating income will come elegantly through channels of integrity. Search for companies that you know are honorable. Seek work that utilizes your talents and abilities, even it means branching out on your own. You will see the greenback coming your way and you will be happier all the way around!
Community
Community will lessen our dependence on money. Wow! Imagine that. Now everyone… exhale! There are ways to have the necessities of life and it has little to do with money. Phew!
Create community with family, friends and neighbors. I know I sound like a broken record here but its is truth. Food prices are increasing and we need to eat to live. Grow a vegetable garden in your back yard or in your neighborhood. Everyone can maintain it and share in the abundance. You won’t need as much money for groceries if you are growing some of your own.
Share resources. Exchange clothing and household items. Swap services and such as babysitting and home and car repairs. Ride share. Gas is up and down and who knows what the future holds. If you are running to the market, offer to take a neighbor with you or pick up a few things for them so they don’t have to use as much gas. Take turns driving.
Think about how much less money you would need if you did even some of these things. You’d be so much more relaxed too as you aren’t worrying about where your next dollar is going to come from so you can survive. Plus, community always shares burdens and no one should have to go through life alone. Individuals and families need community outside of themselves.
Integrity and community… the new money. This is how we will have enough resources to meet our needs. Integrity in the workplace opens the channels of money to flow to you. Creating community helps us meet our needs and share our burdens. The new money: happier, healthier people due to less stress and worry about money, while meeting the basic needs in life. Sounds like a winning combination!
